Hehehehe

Atspeed have been highly recommended to me and the right close to you. Anywhere else and youd have to arse about getting it done.

Again, I spoke to the guys at Atspeed and think I'll go there when the time comes.

There's also a place just outside Ongar on the A414, I think it's called Thurston Engineering? They do rebuilds, machine work and have a RR there, so can't hurt to give them a call.

Curious to know why apart from us?
We are the largest independent supplier of Omex systems in the UK.
As for getting a quote, I do not think that there are many rolling roads that will quote a price as they never know what they are getting, some cars can be done in an hour or so, and others take forever due to an incorrect install. If you get a quote it will still be a guess on there part.

True youl only get a price for power runs really not tuning.

Hi Alan,
Just curious to shop around and make sure i get the right place for the right money, Don't take any offence, I've only ever heard good things about your service, i just want to make sure that you are the best.

EDIT: And with regards to quotes, i realise that now and am looking more at per hour costs.

I second what Alan has asid. You just don't know what state a customers car will arive in! They may have a totally different idea to what's ready or even safe to go on the rollers.

At best you might get a fixed price for a power run only assuming no issues.

We are not the cheapest, there are many places that will charge less, i make no excuse for that. What I will do is stand up and shout that we do a job that we will put our name to (although you cant win them all).
From some of the maps we have seen here where people have spent good hard earnt money having this so called tuning done the operators that have been responsible should be shot. We have seen so called professional engine dyno operators sending cars out with over 55 degrees ignition on the car, and then he blamed the inlet manifold, cars where only the top line was correct (full throttle), the rest looked as if it was done by a child. This 1400cc race car left with over 150BHP @the wheels. It came in with less than 100BHP. The first time out he went that fast into the first corner he crashed and removed the front suspension.....We didnt laugh......much!!
So my point is, if you wanted to buy quality oat feed for a horse you would expect to pay a good price, but.....if you wanted to buy feed that had already been through the horse, you would expect to pay considerably less.

i have been to a lot of rolling roads in my time. some good some bad, had my car setup at ATSPEED its now the only place that i go.

do i need to say any more than that?

edit. yes

it bewilders me how people are willing to spend thousands on engines ecu's etc etc but are then too tight to spend £300 getting it properly tuned on specialist equipment.

i would rather have a slightly lesser engine/ecu with a proper setup than a mental engine with a crap or no setup.

track and road

i drive 3.30 hours to have my cars mapped there

eddie99 - 23/6/10 at 06:17 PM

Its not im being that tight, its just i as you say have spent 7k on my car, and don't want it to go to anyone, and want to have a chat with lots of people beforehand for experiences.

rickys2000 - 23/6/10 at 06:47 PM

If you really want to find out who are good and who are bad specifically for your Omex speak directly to Omex themselves. They will tell you who their authorised dealers and who is competent to map their software correctly. I used Torque of the Devil in Uxbridge as they were recommended by Omex as my nearest competent operator.
