Hi

What sort of power can a standard Type 9 Gearbox handle before it goes bang!

Thanks

Keith

Torque is your enemy. 200nm max input shaft torque is what is on a Ford drawing I have.
Hope it helps.
Steve.

Standard box is rated at about 145 ft/lbs and the desiel and V6 box at about 155 ft/lbs but we know that they can handle a good bit more. use and abuse it until it goes wrong then get another or invest in one of BGH's finest, steel synchro cones etc and happy at 200bhp all day.

from ft-lbs to Nm = x1.36.
means around 200Nm to be safe ?
