Catchup
How about having a "catch up since x time button" or a "catch up section.
I just find a busy times you have to read the forum 3 or 4 times before i'm convinced ive read the new messages.
Also being in a picky mood - as i am (sorry) - how about a spell checker?

I often get "caught up" without asking for it. This happens when doing a new post (esp. a long one), opening a second window, or leaving
the machine unattended.
Not a big thing, but while we're on the subject...
