New LocostBuilders server
Postman just arrived with the all new LocostBuilders server! This is the machine I wanted to buy for the upgrade last year, but couldn't afford
to at the time. Patience has paid off though, and I'm proud to introduce this new baby!
Here's the spec:
- Dell PowerEdge R200
- Xeon X3360 CPU with 4 x 2.83GHz cores and 2 x 6MB cache
- 8GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
- 2 x 250GB SATA drives
- CentOS 5.5 x86_64 operating system
Total cost just over £900 with VAT and delivery.
Here's a couple of pics:
New Server 1
New Server 2
New Server 3
And a subtle reminder of the donate link

Good on you Chris for keeping this show on the road and investing your own time and money in it.
I'm sure I speak for all when I say how much we appreciate it

That's just my crappy photography skills!
Also, in other news, if all goes well we should have an advert in PPC magazine from the September issue onwards (the next issue, on sale August) so
hopefully, with that and all the flyer work done this summer at the shows, we should have some new members joining us!

I've seen some parts made in China, where they had the CE mark, when I asked about this, they said it stands for "chinese export"
Kind regards

Wow. I remember when this was first mentioned and knowing nowt I asked a few questions as I was expecting a big cabinet thing full of wires. £900 for
that little thing. I'm disappointed. Don't they know that size matters

Good effort Chris,
Again thanks for this site. Well sort of thanks, I get grilled by my lady because I check this site everyday and spend far too much time on it. Its
also completely the fault of the people on this site that I spent £6K on a 'toy' a year before my wedding!!!
Phah, men have to play to eh!?
Thanks again Chris,
Oh and wheres my vinal!!!
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

I had one of those - my first PC! I think it had a twin floppy drive so you could run the software on one and store your data on the other! I learned
Supercalc on it! And I paid £300 for it! That was back in about 1985 I think! My next PC had a 20 Mb hard drive which was 'double spaced'
up to about 38 :-)
