Terms and words that should be blocked or added.

This is a British site and therefore the chosen language is English.
There are some terms and words used on the forum that really make my skin creep such as "gotten". When did the past tense of "get" inherit the non-existent suffix "en"? What does it mean anyway?
I've also seen occasional use of the word couple without the preposition "of". It's like using the letter Q in a word without following it up with a U.
Is it possible to set up the posting text box to either ammend or reject misused words and to add missing prepositions and supositions etc. as in MS Word?
The essence and lineage of this forum is slowly being eroded (.5 / .5 ).

Cheers, Rorty.

While they are about it they could do an automatic spellcheck.

btw, I think "gotten" is in fact the original English, which the British have changed but the Tommy Tanks haven't

Good! Glad someone picked out the deliberate mistake!
Spelling mistakes are forgivable...just let me know when I should stop digging.

gotten
N. Amer. past participle of GET.

— USAGE The form gotten is not used in British English but is very common in North American English, though even there it is often regarded as non-standard.

I used to change my avatar from time to time and I have quite a stock of good alternatives in reserve, but I just can't bring myself to terminate The Bitch.

I have to say that the misuse of the English language on this site is appalling, aside from the spelling mistakes. I get the impression that many people don't bother to check their posts through before posting. Puctuation is becoming a thing of the past, the inclusion of multiple question marks, exclamation marks etc, why?????? And why all this WTF, AFAIK and other similar bollocks? It's AttRosHuss???!!!$£%.

I think all abbreviations should be banned. It barely takes 2 seconds to type what they actually stand for. HTH? Heart to heart?

So thats what it is. I actually think there are some very nice people on here. I often see 'Lots Of Love' being abreviated (LOL).

I have to partly agree with Rorty on this post. My typing isnt the best in the World but i think it is worth the effort to make the posts half readable.
