Either AVG or Zone Alarm is knocking the performance right down on both of the elderly MS-powered PCs I use on an occasional basis. Startup is particularly slow. Can't be *rsed to work out which one it is, as I prefer Linux for real work...

The free edition is still free....

It's just being upped to 7.5, I posted a link to it in the Computer section earlier in the week when I got a popup reminder. Read it and you'll see it's still AVG free

It will stay free - it's just you have to hunt around for the free version, as they are keen to push their paid for one.
