Spam email ? Locostbuilders site

Has anybody else got an email like this? The subject was locostbuilders.co.uk. How did they do that?

Hello

We are an established, respected online electrical and electronics retailer. We`re building relationships with sites relevant to `Freeview card` (we found you via the search engines - if this term isn`t relevant to you, we cover a vast range of products, buyers guides and information and should therefore be able to find an appropriate subject).

There are two possibilities:

1) We can hand write some content (around 2-300 words) for you to add to a page on locostbuilders.co.uk. This will be relevant to both of our sites and will contain a single text link in it back to a relevant content page on our site.

- OR -

2) We can trade links with you, directly from a relevant content page on tribaluk.com (not a links page or directory). We will explain where links are located (on properly indexed and ranked pages) when you reply. We can either do this directly or as a `three way` type link if you prefer.

There are no costs associated with either approach.

If neither option is appropriate for you, please accept my sincere apologies for having troubled you.

Hope to hear back from you.

Kind Regards - Sean Clark
Director of eCommerce, www.tribaluk.com

RELEVANCE, PRIVACY AND OPT-OUT
We only send partnership invitations requests to carefully selected partners. We work hard to ensure that all requests are relevant and appropriate but no process is perfect. If our request has offended you in any way, please accept our sincere apologies. If you do not wish to receive further invitations from us, please email us at tribalunsubscribe@searchsciences.co.uk. This will add you to our exclusions database. Your request WILL be respected (please allow up to 24 hours for our system to catch up). Please note that if you are an existing partner we may need to contact you with regard to the relationship from time to time.

Our postal address is publically available on our website at www.tribaluk.com

Maybe you have been sent it because we can all see your email address.

I recently turned mine off after being warned by Barclay's bank about displaying it in public places.

Just me looking over me shoulder maybe, but worth thinking about these days.

I have now altered my email address. Put your pointer over my email icon to see the new one. That should stop them

I have unlimited email addresses with my ISP so I created one especially for here.

Unfortunately some email address harvesting bot picked it off the page and that one address started receiving dozens of spam messages. I removed it a year ago and it's finally now dropped down to only 1-2 offers of viagra/larger body parts/stock deals a week.

Sounds like the same thing has happened to you and trying to be smarter than average has put the url in the subject to make you read it.

Don't send a message back to the removal address - it will just confirm you exist and you'll get even more spam.

Never let your email address be displayed on a web page, it just gets scavenged and then your bombarded with Spam

Its a bit like not checking the "do not mail me other offers" box, once you get into to the habit you never forget
