LCB location Compulsary?

Is there anybody else that thinks the Location part of your profile should be made compulsary to fill in, or certainly prompt you to do so whan signing up.

I'm pretty sick of posts with people selling things or asking is there anybody close to help or where to buy things from etc and not having there location in there profile or putting it in the post.
I'm always more that willing to help but can't be bothered sometimes if people haven't offered this little snippet of information.

Some people may not want to display there full address or even small village for security reasons but atleas narrow it down to the local City or even county would bea help.

Should prople object to it they can always lie or put something stupid in.

*ahh and breathe*

Yep i agree. Just a vague idea of location would be enough like West London or whatever.

I agree - when I see `midlands` as a location , is the poster 5 min's or 50 miles from me ?
I could just post `where are you` in response to a cry for help - but frankly if they cant be bothered to tell me where they are when they have the opportunity to do so , then I cant be bothered to ask..............

Its cuz I is blond , innit

I reckon anyone who doesn't fill in his profile properly should be 'given a good going over (ref Mr Bridger in the Italian Job), not killed, just given a good going over'

Many folks are "cautious" these days of giving any personal details away.
I have and would avoid putting details in on some sites and groups if not absolutely neccesary.
Newcomers to LCB are unlikley to know what a helpful friendly bunch we are here and tread carefully initially.

Maybe it should be pointed out somewhere in the signup that it helps people give out relevent information or they are more able to offer help.

Once the info is in your profile its there for anybody to see weather there asking questions, for advice or selling something whatever.
I just think its a vital piece of information thats often missing either through maybe unfounded securirity concerns or it is just overlooked as to how important it can be.

Unfortunately i've got a very similar view as Clairetoo at the moment on that if they can't be bothered to say where they are then I can't be bothered to answer and no doubt there's many more on here that feel the same.

Obviousley don't give out the exact address and GPS location of your house but atleast the nearest major town or city even, surely thats accepetable for most security reasons.
