Can my email address get spam crawled if use the email button?

In my profile I can opt to make my email address viewable to others, and a button appears in my signature box.

If I do this, can it get crawled? I'm spam free at the moment and would like to stay that way

John

yes i would of thought so. But some spam filters are pretty good.

gmail is especially good for instance. The one we use for work aren't bad either.

EDIT if its for business i would make a new email address such as sales@yourdomain.co.uk etc so that if it does swamp your inbox you still have your own email spam free.

Thats what we do at work, sales and info emails address publicly available and then once you have the customers details i deal via my own email within the company.

Yes it will get spammed up.

Might be better to add in JPG format as part of your LCB footer. Potential customers can then enter manually if they want to contact you.

Always use a throw away address.

Best way is to registister a domain name -- cost less than a tenner, you can create various address under the domain name for various purposes such registering for car forums or ordering stuff of the net.

So for example my domain is myinitials-myfamilyname.co.uk

So all web purchase transaction go to buy@myinitials-myfamilyname.co.uk

Any forums I have joined in the last couple of years point to services@myinitials-myfamilyname.co.uk

You can then redirect these to any isp mail box account you have and either rrad as web mail or download to your PC as normal.

If you it this way this also makes filtering the trash using "K9" or siimilar email filter easier.

link to K9 web site http://keir.net/k9.html

Some of more on the ball domain name hosting outfits give you a web control panel to allow you to set up some pretty good filtering before it even gets to your ISP mailbox.

However I do miss all those letters from former bodyguards to the nigerian minister of finance asking for a bank account to deposit millions in.

I removed mine (must have been from this site as I used a unique one) when it was spammed years ago. Still get the occasional spam to that address.
