Full body for a 7

Work has been started on the plug but all I have at the moment is this arty farty impression of what it will be like.
It's not a Cobra before anyone suggests otherwise it pre dates those by a few years.

looks just fine but what about weather gear and getting in, will it be like a beachbuggy...clamber over and fall in?

good headlights to use would be the new mini's

How many wipers is that going to use, lookes like 3-4?

Prefer the Fury/Phoenix styling myself and that looks a little too Cobra-esque to me.

What is the back like?

The big question will be the exhaust.

IMO this type of bodykit, that just sits over a standard chassis will be one of the only ways to get a seven style car through the new IVA.

Maybe there will be other work arounds, but people will be looking for a simple, not to ugly option and something like this might be looked at.

I think these type of body kits will get very popular unless another option presents itself that aviods the IVA problem.

I think its quite nice.

Maybe not as modern as some, but then the 7 isn;t exatly a cutting edge design so might suit the target market.

As was discussed on a previous thread there are plenty of ways to get a 7 style car through the IVA without resorting to fitting a whole body shell just to cover the exhaust!

Like it. But what chassis/running gear is it designed for? The acid test for me is whether my +4", slightly longer than usual chassis can be squeezed in.

It's being moulded around a Haynes Roadster chassis which is wider than most 7's but with the others in mind where and how the body will be attached to the chassis so will fit the locost, Indy etc although you may have to play around with a wider track if running an escort based car.

Very interesting project, and I've been working on a few rough sketches myself on a similar concept.

Are you going to have doors, or are going to hop in, like the new Raw Fulcrum ?

I noticed the design is retro, why are going this route, have you thought about something more modern ?

Good concept and looking forward to more sketches of your design.....

Overall a thumbs up from me.

The screen in the sketch looks a bit too low - maybe either a "proper" screen or a lip would be better?

As mentioned, the back end is all-important too... let us have a look!

Using moulds made in 1950's so it's old rather than retro but adding width to make it fit modern 7's.

I never did the initial impressions but will be working with the fella who did to create it...opting for short doors but mould will allow the body to be used with out doors.

Don't like modern cars or 7's come to that really....

My first response was to request more details and preferably images in order to formulate any meaningful / useful opinion, but in my wanderings I found some older posts quite by accident - are you talking about the 581? The original pics seem pretty good underlays on which to base sketches - please find attached some quick traces; excuse the quality, but currently without functioning scanner so photo'ed, uploaded and bounced down to b+w which can be bit harsh.

Anyway, comments... first thought is that it's a neat looking thing and to these eyes at least more reminiscent of a C-Type Jag than a Cobra which is no bad thing; give a vertically oriented grille and the resemblance would be even clearer.

Lights: rather than standard, recessed Lucas 4" or 7" units I'd say modern lights are a better way to go. The problem is that many modern units dictate the surrounding surfaces in all three planes and can therefore be difficult to integrate into an existing design, and without seeing some nice hi-res images or studying it in the flesh it's hard to really guage things. I'd suggest the post-2006 Mini headlights - they're more round, the previous ones are quite ovoid. Or new Fiat 500 - been trying (unsuccessfully) to determine if headlights are separate from sidelights or a single unit like the current Polo; new Beetle lights have too much plan form in them so you'd probably have to flip them - as they did at Morgan, and probably with similar results.... Other options include Daihatsu Copen & Trevio - the Copen's are especially neat and as both are small cars could be scaled correctly but don't know how much / how easy they are to get hold of.

Below is a Phoenix (? Stylus? ) with new Mini lights - the workmanship is top notch but it doesn't look like part of the original design, in this case as if the front end of the wing has been sliced off and capped with the new lights.

At the back I guess you'll have to make provision for no. plate surround, etc. but unless you're planning some major surgery such as turning it into a Kamm tail round units are probably the way to go - the only other option I can think of is the PT Cruiser lights, for which there are plenty of alternates

Also been trying to track down Ford Pop wheel size - can't tell whether they're actually decent diameter or just skinny: look like my 2CV's wheels so ~15" diameter then?

Have you made a set of panels from the current moulds - if so, can you post/send some nice big pics, ta.

Things have been slow on the alterations with other things going on especially the way the world is playing silly beggars..
Not keen on using lights from the "german car" as won't suit it. So will have small projector beams from Hella.

Oh dear - these were done with one eye on the GP without having seen your post, anyway...

Rear 3/4 - I assume some changes will be made to the tail just to incorporate stuff like the numberplate etc, so I've deepened and reprofiled it slightly - it's a bit more squared off at the bottom: think 300 SLR. Though I've no idea of the scaling, I've sketched in the PT Cruiser taillights plus an ancillary light. The seat fairings are not just styling: if the 581's rear deck needs to be raised to clear the Locost chassis then it could be concealed within this feature. Similarly there is an aerodynamic justification for the sidevent, but from a styling perspective it also adds interest to the flanks - which might help if there aren't any doors, etc. and I think wheelarch extensions have already been mentioned...

Front 3/4 - in addition to the above, grille and front air dam deepened - which might give it a hint of the short nose D-Type about it. Post '06 Mini headlights inserted (again no idea of scale) plus driving lights, note that the Mini lights are slightly recessed as I think the surfacing is unlikely to match, and this kind of feature is probably the best way to try to integrate them in that eventuality.

Really don't like the pre-'06 Mini lights shown in previous post and hoping post-'06 lights can be used without chrome surround. If you're going with projectors, I suggest that the various light elements are grouped together in a feature otherwise might end up a little expressionless

(PS and before anyone lays into me, I know it has rubber band tyres, but these are little more than thumbnails & the wheelarch cutouts aren't actually that far off the mark)
