Volvo Straight 5

After hooning round in my new ('99) v70 awd. I am completely adicted to, what can only be described as the silky smooth howl of the whiteblock 5 cylinder.

Whilst it does a decent impression of a v8, it is almost identical sound wise to the triton v10 I had in my F250

The whiteblock 5 is going to be my donor engine and I'm so glad I made that choice

Yeah does sound nice and heaps of power, but you need to pay attention to the cooling system as they are susceptible to corrosion inside the block and don’t let the level drop as the head gasket will go. Oh and there’s 52 bolts holding the rocker cover on! Easy engine to work on (done a top end rebuild on one not that long ago) just tons and tons of bolts

woohooo ,

more volvo engines/drivers .

the corrosion related problem affects the redblock cars more , (steel block/alloy head) , the whiteblocks like all ally blocked cars need proper anti freeze levels

can't mind the exact model or year but there were plenty of RWD volvo's with these engines, the newer ones are FWD though
