naughty website?

Orange wont let me access the locostbuilders site on my phone unless I confirm with them that I am over 18.

It's blocked by an automated websense type system. It is possible to request a real person review the status of the website and lift the ban if the site is legit, which I did. 10 minutes later I got a text politely informing me that this site was definitely adults only!

I know I can just confirm with them my age, but still..whats going on? Am I missing the naughty section or is it just Flak Monkeys avatar?

forums are sometimes considered as adult, as anyone can post anything. depends on the filtering.

is it complicated to prove your age?

In so much as it gives no information how it could be done!

I imagine its a case of just ringing them and giving them some card details or something. Alternatively I can see it has a sign that I really dont need to be on LCB when I'm at work, at home AND on public transport.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I'm on T-mobile and had a similar problem recently when I wanted to check the national lottery results - blocked as a gambling site. All I had to do was contact them and get the bar lifted, as the account holder they didn't need any further proof of my age or anything.

Yep...sadly..avatars, some stuff in Madhouse...(which is accessible by the public).....also some of the titles of threads.....although the word isn't there in full,..... as mainly asterisked out, or abbreviated to text speak ie 'WTF', the intent is there.....

It is only the extreme minority to be fair....but sadly that is all it takes......the ones with the 'I say/post what I like, and I like/post what I say' attitude.

Sadly. because of that, we don't get many schools able to get involved with LB these days....

I can only do so much, it takes all of you 'good eggs' to say your piece within the offending threads/titles too!

This is NOT a web site designed for male, over 18's, it is a website designed for anyone and everyone, young, old and in-between, male, female or whatever... with a common love of building cars....

Aaah well, best get on with me day job!

If it's anything like Vodafone (and I suspect they use the same software) then it's based on a whitelist rather than a blacklist, sadly this means only popular sites that are backed by big companies are opened up to the world by being put on the list.
They do it that way around as it's pretty much guaranteed safe so they aren't going to get sued.

Amusingly I had to get my company SIM opened up for dodgy sites so I could diagnose some error reports of websites not working that were blocked (nothing special, though one of the graphics guys had to do some debugging in a locked room as a jpg was found that didn't decide on our software and they couldn't find a non hardcore example that failed in the same way *cough*)

The software for general network blocking used a blacklist and was fine with only the real dodgy sites were blocked.

I use an Orange sim card to get mobile internet on my laptop. It will let me get onto the first page but blocks opening up any of the topics. If you phone orange they will unblock apparently.

I frequent a number of car forums, and I can tell you Locosters look pretty tame compared with some of the 4x4 boys, but Locost is the only one blocked

and chris' one

thing is, when you know the origins of certain words, theres nothing offensive about them really. they're only offensive because people WANT to be offended by them...

I've never had a problem with this site on orange (so far anyway)

but I've got an N95 (also not full internet) so I normally use wi-fi when I can get it (faster and free )

I'm with Orange and had the same problem, give them a call and they change your account so that you can view.

Then you'll be able to search for p*rn as well
