Component Weight Lists...
Anyone else think it would be quite handy (even if only for the geekery aspect!) if there was a single posting with common component weights
listed?
I'm happy to administer it if the 'edit' option could be left on the initial post (is this possible Fozz?) and would just update as
information was received (Thread-posts or U2U).
Maybe have it as a 'sticky' in the 'Locost-Related' sub-forum?
Possible component categories worth listing...
BATTERIES
CHASSIS
DIFFS
ENGINES
GEARBOXES
REVERSE BOXES
SEATS
TYRES
WHEELS
Good / bad / pointless idea?

Good idea. Something i looked for when i was scratch building. Doesnt matter so much now, but the racers will love it.

3.6 Jag engine and gearbox - 250kg (around 200 wothout a/c and p/s pump)
Jag 3.4:1 (i think) diff - 50kg
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Problem with engine weights is no two people weight them in the same state, i.e. some leave on headers, ancillaries, even gearboxes, some people strip
them right down.
You should be adding seats to the list, some are surprisingly heavy, foam and bin bag ones weigh nowt.
Batteries need to be on the list.

That'd be a great resource.
There's some stuff already on Westfield-world.com that could be carried over as a starter for 10 - info on compenents and also a fair bit on
engine/gearbox weights for various applications.
