Amazon!!!!

Chris,

I've noticed some weird stuff today - the status bar on my browser keeps showing the following messages

"Transferring data from images-eu.amazon.com"

and

"Waiting for www.amazon.com"

What gives? There are no references to Amazon on any of the pages I view, I've just cleaned out all my cookies, so there's no reason why it should be there.

The main reason for asking is that the Amazon seems to be knackered at the moment, so I'm getting huge delays in swapping pages, etc. even though I'm on a company leased line (broadband++).

cheers,

David

LATE UPDATE: I've just got 3 Amazon cookies back again since logging in here just once!
Why am I getting this sh1t?

I get them too, and have always wondered but never bothered to ask....some of the images loaded are

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/G/02/uk-welcome/misc/segway2.gif

and

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0001BDOOM.02.THUMBZZZ.jpg

neither of which appear on the site....so i am just as confused!

Cheers,
David

A major advantage of using the Mozilla browser - I can block cookies!

This site's running a lot faster since blocking Amazon's cr*p.

This is not bad.

you can block stuff with it. It's based on the explorer engine but with some fancy bits added, like mouse gestures. Handy once you get used to the pages opening in the same window.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Also - Google toolbar does a good job of blocking pop-ups
