pinto camshaft

Haynes book says fit camshaft from the rear of cylinder head.Can it fit in from the front.Dont want to take the head off unless its required.

Option 1
Take the head off.

Option 2
Cut a 'service' hatch in the firewall.

Option 3

Take engine out and fit camshaft.


Option 4

If still in tin top wait until gearbox removal/clutch change, then jack back of engine and remove/refit camshaft through gap between bonnet & windscreen. (done this it does work).

If in Kit car, can the front bulkhead/instrument binnacle be removed.


Explanation ------- the front journal is smaller than the middle journal which is smaller than the rear journal.
