Seller Rating System

I have seen a few threads on here regarding a few members being a bit crappy when selling stuff (a small few of course)

see Linky

and Linky

Could a rating system not be implemented or even a thanks system, it doesn't have to be anything complex like eBay. just a simple good or bad button would do (although these things are usually never that simple) or a place to leave feedback on the profile after a sale (moderators would be able to edit any silly/ridiculous/outright untrue comments).

you get the idea...

Personly i think it would be a good idea, to have a who is who list with a star rating for any supplier on this site
it would also be a good place for for the advertiser of there goods to display/list there items

It could also generate some income for the locostbuilders web site

I can think of one firm that would get 5 already !

most of the suppliers (like the one mentione above ) are well known already.

as for individuals not supplying, it seems to be more of a thing where they are fine, then one thing happens and they disappear. in which case it wouldn't help.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I used to go on skylineowners.com which had an ebay type system. It worked very well, people could comment on the sale and give a positive or negative score.

Bear in mind that if i sell something and you're not happy with it, you write a bad review i can then take Chris as owner and publisher of said bad thing to court. Now the reality (i've been told) with our legal system is "he with the biggest pockets often wins".

I suspect Chris would not want to risk getting involved / increasing his exposure. At the moment i believe he still carries a risk if someone slags someone else off. If you want to see what can happen, look up what happened with Blatchat and arrow engineering a few (lots) of years ago.

isnt that just a general risk of a forum?

its not really any different from me making a post saying xyz company is crap in my opinion. or i could make some slanderous allegations about a member up and post them.

just a thought

Not forgetting the point that most off the problems are due to people dissapearing too.
