I have just read some threads about posting pics for the avatar don't know what i am doing wrong but i have tried resizing but i think it auto
resizes but it doese not show heres the url
what am i doing wrong?

Right-clicking where your image *should* be and picking "Copy URL" gives me..
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/[img ]http://locostbuilders.co.uk/upload/2rsz_striker_pics_aug_2009_015.jpg[/img]
as the link.
It should be a valid URL (address) directly to the upload bit... i.e. it *should* be...
http://locostbuilders.co.uk/upload/2rsz_striker_pics_aug_2009_015.jpg
Adjust the URL in your profile section and take out the bits that aren't needed then keep right-clicking and copying URL until you get a proper
URL that shows your picture.
Hope that helps. May not be very clear explanation 
Edit to say...
Change it to /upload/2rsz_striker_pics_aug_2009_015.jpg
and it should work

Thanks Andy just copied that in my profile - now i see it there but it does not come up as an avatar!!!

Avatars should be no bigger than 150 pixels on a side. Yours looks bigger than that.
