Bike carb tuning….again…again….again!
Trawling through the mass of carb tuning threads on this site, I saw someone posted this link which I think is very helpful:

What I noticed however towards the end of the tutorial was that this chap has drilled and capped one of the air jets beneath the trumpet holders? I’d
not head of this requirement before? Can anyone shed any light on why this is needed?

I cant remember which it is but when fitted to a car if you dont block that hole it will either run very rich or very lean. You do need to do it. What
have you got?

Thats very interesting. I have those carbs on my Skoda Estelle trials car. I think they came from a Honda Fireblade and Boggs never mentioned having
to do that when they set them up?!!! Would have thought that they of all people would have known if it needed doing.

with reference to these bike carbs how do they run do they need setting up often
i have a comp safari off road trialling vehicle rover 4.6 stage 3 heads valves ported /flowed stump puller cam lightened /balanced on boxer manifold 1
3/4" su carbs which are for sale once motor cycle carbs fitted

Well, my ZX9's came from Bogg Bros and seen some of their R1's and everything i have ever seen or read about fitting them to cars says
that you have to block those off.
Once they are set up they need very little looking after. No where near as much as webbers thats for sure

I believe my carbs are off a 919 fireblade.
I have a decent sized airbox on as well. I will try and post some pics.

Just read the article again. It concerns the fitting of a kit. My carbs were standard and Boggs set them up FROM standard with no special kit. From
memory Daddy Bogg changed the position of the circlip on the needles and cut down the large central spring in length. He then ballanced them all. It
may be that the kit that is refered to needs that extra mod that is not needed if modding from standard. Just a thought.

If you google the subject one of the results is how Boggs fit a set to a Vauxhall Engine and then loads more. Have you had it running yet? Have you
been back onto Boggs?
