Sierra upper column disassembly
Good morning all,
Hopefully an easy one......could anyone tell me if its possible to separate the two pieces of the upper sierra steering column (i.e I wish to remove
the aluminium bearing housing from the collapsible steel section)?. I've had a look inside the assembly but can't figure out how its been
put together.
Many thanks,
Jek

Yes they will come apart. If I remember correctly they won't twist off because there is a notch in the ali part that locates in on the steel
column. I think some gentle persuasion with a punch and hammer will sort it

First time mine came off it took a few gentle taps to get the inner steel section moving, then pulled off by hand (Ahem)
Now its off, It just twists on and off

I have the same question but my steering column is different from the one pictured, its an adjustable column:
steering column
I want to keep the hole in my dash as small as possible, is it possible to strip this type of column to get it through the dash?
