They are doing my head in, but not as much as the ads that keep popping up on the search bar. How do you disable them.

Are you sure it's not just something installed on your computer?
Post a screen shot and we'll be able to tell if they're supposed to be there or not.

Working fine for Chrome on Linux.
Have you applied any updates recently for your browser? Maybe try on firefox or chrome if you have them installed.

On a related note....has anyone got a method for closing the pg popup on an iPad once it's opened?
I find once I click on the thumbnail it opens and there's no way to close it? I have to click back on the thread and reopen the thread?

That might actually be a genuine bug.... I'll investigate!
On the iPad thing, no there's not. I knew about it, but as nobody had complained I've not bothered to fit it!

Download an add on called "do not track plus". It's cured a lot of adverts for things I looked at for a few seconds appearing on
every page I look at for weeks after.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

..and also destroys one of the revenue streams that supports the site. Please don't encourage stuff like this. I know adverts are annoying but
many webmasters, myself included, rely on the adverts to keep sites running for free.
