Storage Heater Fault - Any Sparkies About ?

Mother lives in a bungalow with Economy 7 storage heaters.

They are all ok apart from the one in the hallway which is not getting Hot.

I've checked the Trip switch in the storage heater itself, I've checked the resistance on the 4 elements and they are well within spec'.

I've also fitted a 13 amp plug to its cable connector and when i do that it is heating up a treat.

Therefore i think we have a supply problem ?

This particular storage heater is served by the fuseboard and has a separate trip switch (all to itself, which is not tripped).

Apart from going there when it charges up at night (economy 7) with my tester, is there anything else i can check ?

Any chance its a dodgy trip in the fuseboard ?

Thanks in advance for any help

Have you had the switch off? Or the fuse board lid off?
Any loose wires?

It appears the heater is Ok, so it must be the supply.
So yes, need to check it when it should be on. And yes, trips do go wrong. We had a brand new consumer unit with all RCBO's installed, and 2 days before christmas the kitchen circuit kept going off. I ended up swapping the rcbo for the garage one (sacrilege I know, but we had 14 guests for xmas) and yes, it was the trip.

heaters

To me it does sound like the supply some of the 7 meters have a small change over switch that you can operate to bring the supply on , look for loose connections and worn out switches eg the 20amp switch mechanism . if all is well there is something wrong withe the heater control gear should be easy to get hold off ,best of luck
