Forum Search Facility

How does everyone find the forum search facility? Personally I find it fairly restrictive. It seems that it only searches the exact phrase you enter, not allowing and "AND" logic etc.

For example if I want to find any threads about radiators for MK's I'd expect to be able to do something like: -

radiator and mk
+radiator +mk

or something similar. But all of these (and radiator mk) come up with nothing. The only way I can see is to use google: -

site:www.locostbuilders.co.uk radiator mk

This then finds the threads for me.

I know the forums uses phpbb and that allows the facility for AND etc, just seems it's turned off?

How does anyone else cope with this?

wildcarding works better but still not ideal, especially for more than 2 terms.

eg for 2 terms you'd have to search

term1%term2
term2%term1

to catch the terms in different order. for 3 terms it'd be: -

term1%term2%term3
term1%term3%term2
term2%term1%term3
term2%term3%term1
term3%term1%term2
term3%term2%term1

Not as easy as

term1 AND term2 AND term3

The search facility is a bit painfull, i've always thought a data base would be better with more definitive answers.

Or even frequently asked questions, since in wiring headlight dip/main and indicators are probably the most common followed by fans and relays.

A search on rads is minefield to search through, probably best to search polo rad.
