Menber status
No offence to any long term members here, but I notice there are quite a few "Senior Builders" on the forum now, myself included. I
don't think this illustrious title should be awarded to people with less than 1000 posts, otherwise, it belittles the efforts of such sages as
AB, DJ, SG et al. I for one don't believe I've earned the status, especially as I don't contribute anything towards actually
building a sevenesque.
I think 500 posts or more should entitle members to their own unique title, but nothing less!
Cheers, Rorty.

Be greatfull for other people's thoughts on this. I know there have been a few comments about the whole 'builder' thing. If anyone
can suggest alternatives (I know you all complained at 'member' ) I'd be happy to change it or even add more levels.

Couldn't we put our own in like we do with the avatar or signature. I'm sure everyone will behave responsibly in their choices. Limit
the size to a certain number of letters if necessary.
yours, Pete.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

You can specify your own but it makes life a bit difficult to allow you to add/change/remove them yourself. If you want something on there drop me an
email/u2u.

I've heard it said on other forums quite a lot, and I'm inclined to agree to a certain extent, that status titles and post counts can
simply cause a lot of valueless posts with people who have very little to say trying to up their count. There are other ways to have rankings, but
they're usually extrememly difficult to implement (ie. a system where people can click to say that they have found a posters message useful), it
may increase the value of postings though.
To be fair, this forum is nowhere near as number of postings centric as some that I have seen with endless post of "yeah" or
"haha" or similar. Although I do sometimes feel like there are a few count boosters.
One other thing I'm inclined to think is that perhaps the word "builder" isn't the right one, perhaps "poster"
would be more acurate although, frankly that seems incredibly boring.
I'm tempted to start again under a new guise once I reach 999 posts, because I really don't want to be a posting freak!
How about:
Posts Title
1 Caterham
10 Westfield
100 MK
250 Locost
1000 Meerkat

I think that perhaps all the titles should be the same as effectively they are meaningless. If some people have a problem, just make things level.
At the end of the day, it doesnt count how many posts you make - good, indifferent, high quality or crap. Its not a competition - just a place to have
a laff and help other people out, and perhaps get a few tips in return.
Some poeple have been here just 3 - 4 months and have 500+ posts.
Others have been here 2 years and have 1900 posts.
Im just about to hit 2000 posts. If it makes me sad, or is interpreted as something else, that tuff. Im here cos I like it here.
Others are top ten posters and havnt posted in nearly 4 months.
At the end of the day, does it matter?

Seems to me that this list reflects society. Some peeps have a lot to say, some very little. Some post and don't build, some post because
they're smart arses, some post because they can, and some post to be helpfull. At the end of the day we can all sift out the garbage, and choose
what is relevant to our own build and sense of humour etc. To echo Steve and John, does it really matter?

Does anyone actually pay it any mind when reading others posts? I know I don't. If I ask a question and someone responds with an answer that
reads like they know what's what then I couldn't give two monkeys whether it says Newbie or Sad muppet who just posts because they are
lonely.
ATEOTD I agree with Steve, who cares. Wipe it off for all I care. I don't prejudge on the basis of this status text.

Fair enough. The idea of merriting useful/accurate posts would make a good list of seniors.
At least that way, frequent "yeah" posters wouldn't climb the status ladder by posting ad nauseum.
I think some newbies would feel more comfortable giving credance to a been-there-done-that, elected senior than to another newbie. (Although, I
suppose there's nothing to say the other newbie isn't a former Cateringvan or Lotu5 technician.)
I'm going back to bed, so sort it out amongst yourselves.
Cheers, Rorty.

Now that sounds like a good plan. Have a "did this post help you" link which adds to the posters "tally". That way only
people that have been useful to others and had it recognised will get a higher rating.
