Chassis stand
shortie - 20/1/04 at 06:57 AM

Just wondered if anyone had madebought a chassis stand with castors or does everyone just use axle stands? Just thought it would be easier to be able to move the car about when working on it.

Rich.

4 axle stands does the job fine for me and they are easy to move around when you need to reach different parts of the chassis.

Austen,

What's the easiest type of welding to undertake as DIY? Don't need to be neat just hold together!!

Rich.

Who's austen??

I learned decent MIG in a couple of days, tack welding would take you a few hours, or one with instruction.

I have been considering building supports on top of the bread trolleys you see at the back of supermarkets (obtained legitimately of course). The castor wheels are tough and should enable easy moving around of the chassis before it gets its own wheels (and maybe even after).
