I have been trying to design my own chassis because i believe i am too tall to fit in a normal locost. Can all the McSorley +442 builders post their
height, shoe size, weight and personal opinion about how comfortable you are so i can check if i can go down this road as well.
I am 6Ft 6" wear size 12 shoes and I'm about 115Kg
Thank you in advance

5ft 10
105kg ish
size 8 feet
son is 6ft 2 ish and size 12 feet and he fits in ok with the seat farther back than me. I need the seat almost at it closest point.
some of the ready made chassis would accomodate you though i'm sure
6'5" size 12 shoes probably about 14 stone, seat nearly all the way back but it's comfortable.

Seat as far back as possible, in fact I bent the cobra drivers seat to be more upright as there was a lot of wasted space behind the seat at the
base.
Removable (snap-off) steering wheel makes getting in & out easier
Pedals hung from the top so as to maximise space in the footwell, allows my left foot to be behind the clutch pedal when in top gear
All in all, it is comfortable and not cramped
My main problem would be my quite tall legs. Has anyone tried increasing the chassis to a +642 ? What problems would i get if i try that just in case i go down this road?
I doubt if you need to go to +6 (if you do you're in Viento territory)
In my experience, making sure that the seat can go as far back as the rear bulkhead allows and that the pedals are as far forward as the front
bulkhead allows, should ghive enough leg room for you.
Have you tried sitting in a built 442?

Unfortunatelly as far as i know, there only one person that is building a +442 near where i work but he is in an early stage.
Is there anyone else near Gloucester or Trowbridge that has one who is willing to let me try fitting in it?
At risk of hijacking your thread, I would be interested too. I am 6' 4" and 200lb, size 11 plates.
I am also building a +442, and am at the basic chassis stage (still to complete the rear end yet). I have taken the chassis out on to the drive for a
'test fit' and it seems that all should be fine. It will depend on my seat choice and pedal configuration though.
I will watch with interest.

I have been looking on both the McSorley and Haynes roadster to check on the differences. The ones that i found is the +4 inches on the footwell, and
the + 4 on the engine bay. As i like the front end of the Haynes roadster, i might build a hybrid Haynes ones with the changes of the Mcsorley design.
Although, the McSorley design on the fron is the same as the Haynes, i might go for a +4 as it would look more appropriate and in proportion to the
rest of the car. I am trying to calculate how much steel i will need to order though as quite a few extra sections will need to be longer.
I will keep posting updates.
Next time you're passing Knaresborough, pop in mate
Cheers

Knaresborough is far far away unfortunately. Although if i drive by, i will give you a shout.
