Sorry, pics are a bit blurry.

Steering mount

The steering rack im using is from a peugeot and so are the ends but the peugeot end is slightly too narrow and short. Is there any way to swap put the jaguar ball into the peugeot joint if you know what i mean?

You could make up rack extensions to mate things together, then cut matching threads on the rod ends.

Looking at the length of the rack and the wishbone positioning I cannot help but wonder if you are going to suffer from applying bump steer as the ball joints on the rod ends will be outside the line of the wishbone mounts.

Why not use an escort rack ? the standard ratio should make it easier enough to turn with the extra weight.

I can afford to buy another rack.
In think the inner rod ends are just inside the wishbone mounts Otherwise i will have to save up.

If they are in line then everything is fine.

I spent hours trying to get a standard rack to work, then out came mr angry grinder and the whole thing shrank by 3" only then I was able to completely dial out bump steer. Unfortunately this also included cutting all the rack mounts out the frame and starting that bit again.

My friend has a Westfield with what looks like a standard Sierra rack, it is really horrible to drive, all over the road jinking from left to right whenever he hits a bump.

Learn from my pain, complete you wishbones and build up the front suspension without the springs/dampers.

Purchase a £2.99 lazer level from B&Q and attach to the hub, and stand a white board 5ft in front of the car and point this at it, draw a vertical line on the board.

Centre the steering and lift the suspension through its full motion, moving the rack up and down within the chassis on temporary mounts until the lazer follows the line only now make something permanant.

Its getting this kind of thing correct which will make a huge difference on you enjoyment of the finished car, also you wanted to race in the JAG series so it needs to be correct.

Regards Mark
