I love kitcars... but i also love jap cars! so i was thinking, can i have both?
It came to me on friday when i was stuck in the snow and an evo 8 came thundering past me... could you put the engine and running gear from an evo or
(more likely because of the cost) gt4 or scoobie in a locost chassis (with a bit of work of course) or a scratch build buggy?
also do you think it would be any good and worth the extra work and cost?
any ideas?

There are 4x4 7s out there. DAX even used to make them for you. There's a few folk on here building them too. As for using a scoobie as a donor,
then problem comes with how the front wheel are driven. They have the front drive shafts coming out of the gearbox, so the would never reach the front
wheels. You can see the holes for them behind the bellhousing:
Also, the engine is really quite wide, although as with many size issues in a 7, I'm sure it could be over come. Best bet I've found is to
use the sierra 4x4 set up.
Theres one up for sale at the moment

at the risk of sounding picky i really want a jap engine.
with the front wheel drive problem in mind, can the donor car uprights be used with a bit of work do you think?
If you use the sierra box, you can use nay engine you like, although how you bolt the two together could cause you issues. There may be other options, such as the 4x4 set up from a Skyline, although it won't be cheap!
gtr skyline running gear would be gr8 although the parts would be many gold coins.
what about using the uprights and if needed wishbones from an adrenaline motorsport murtaya to get an impreza set up?
I'm not sure you are grasping what the problem is here.
In a Subaru the engine is in front of the front wheels, whereas in a 7 it is behind the front wheels

I guess you could "morph" it somewhat and have the engine at the back 911 style... Would be something to drive
