I have just had a seat in a Caterham today............i cant press the clutch without touching the brake and likewise with the throttle.
Does anyone know if the 'book' chassis allows more foot space than a Caterham?
I have size 12s, and am starting to worry. There may be a part finished chassis on Ebay before long!
what shoes were you wearing?ive got racing boots or trainers for driving mine, size 9 steel toe caps are a no no
pixie boots are cool too
sorry, hit enter button, i'm a size 10 n get in with trainers ok, but there aint loads a room
Hi,
I think I am correct in saying that the Caterham is narrower than a book Locost (Anyone able to confirm). I remember someone saying that a Locost is
wider than a wide bodied Westfield which in turn is wider than a Caterham.
If you've not yet started your build then consider going for a McSorley 7+4 chassis which as the name suggests is 4 inches wider than a book
locost. This also gives you more choices of engine and easier fitment of seats.
Cheers,
Craig.
Yep - Caterhams are notorious for their lack of space around the pedals. My son couldn't drive one without removing his trainers (size 10).
The Locost is from the same origins as the Westfield (ahem...) and it is easy to arrange things to give loads of foot space. I have size 11 feet,
broad fitting, and can easily tuck my foot behind the clutch pedal. I used the dimensions from the original Escort pedal box.

David
Well you know what they say Albert:
Big feet... big, erm... footwell!
I'm a size 12 and the space is cool- just spend awhile placing your pedals sensibly!
As it happens I have some pixie boots aswell if it's really a problem!

I had fun trying to drive my friends S2 Elan wearing large shoes. It sounded like I was doing heal and toe everywhere but I wasn't trying to
I almost considered getting one until I drove it, it's just too uncomfortable for a 6'3" person :/
Mackie, us plus4 builders should have no problems

What?
Big feet..... big socks???
Doug, size 13.
