Chassis tunnel?
jimmy - 31/7/02 at 05:14 PM

Hello everyone?
Nearly finished chassis Mc sorley 442.
I have done the chassis tunnel same as book, and I am going to use cortina axle(not yet purchased)but to my horror looking through builders sites I have realised that the propshaft is offset 30mm.
Will I have to alter the tranny tunnel or will it just clear?

OOpps! I have just realised I am talking gibberish again(must stop buying cans of stella)I will start again.
I have done my "transmission" tunnel same as book and I am using a cortina axle, and I am led to believe that the diff is offset by about 30mm.
Will I have to alter the tunnel for the propshaft to clear or will it be ok?

cortina axle ere too, book chassis -ish, but i put tunnel in after prop / axle, so yes it will go, but not sure if you will have to alter yours to get it in....how wide is your seat area both sides ? i will measure mine for you, it may give you a clue, i know my drivers side is slightly narrower, infact hang on, i'll go measure it now....

puff, pant....dam rainin too,

sorry, seats ect, can't realy get at it 38cm drivers side seems to ring a bell though....probably no help to you at all

Cheers for the help john.
I've measured my seat area width and I've got 19" each side, bearing in mind my chassis is 4" wider overall.
My transmission tunnel at narrowest point is 100mm internally.
Also, the tunnel is smack in the centre of the chassis hence having 19" both sides
