McSorley plans - were there errors?
200mph - 13/5/09 at 09:50 PM

After searching for the best part of 2 hours and not finding the answer, I'll create a post.

I made my chassis from the McSorley plans rather than straight from book, but given the length of time that's passed I can't remember and can't find info on whether there were any issues regarding where the wishbone brackets etc should be placed.

Were all the errors ironed out by the time those plans were produced (I'm guessing early 2005ish) or might I have to move bits?

Cheers n beers

I had to fabricate some supports that went under the front rear U brackets.

Pictures are in my gallery below, not photo archive !

I see what you mean.

It's one of a number of questions that only come to mind when I'm not able to get to the chassis.

Will find out what's what at the weekend no doubt.

This picture shows the small bit of 1" box cut with angles and ends welded on.

Because I wanted to preserve the ratio of width-to-length for my front bones, (I have a 52" RS2000 rear axle so needed to have my front wishbones wider to retain the width at the front), so because the pick-off points were further apart, I had to move the rear mounting brackets rearwards along with the uprights each side. I made a modification to the bottom cross member to transfer the stress from the new position of the bracket to the crossmember as intended in the original design (as shown here).

Hope this helps.
