hi i an just starting to plan and lay out the lower chassis rails and it made me think i am 6' 4 ' will i fit or will i have to lengthen it . please help
I can't really help, but I suspect it depends on where your height is as much as anything else.
If you have long legs, you might have more trouble than someone with a big torso.
Maybe worth working out if the standard chassis (are you doing ron champion locost, the haynes roadster, or something else entirely?) will fit you,
and play from there.
Also worth filling in your location in the profile, most likely someone's local so you can get a good idea of size of a chassis and how it'd
fit you.
Sit on the floor in your lounge, back against the sofa, press an imaginary brake pedal and get the mrs to measure from toe to small of your back.
Now add 2" for clearance of the pedal to the bulkhead, 2" for the thickness/shape of the seat and then measure the floor of the car.
I suspect you would have to be 6'13" to be too big for the roadster chassis - after all Chris Gibb is 6'5" of rippling muscle and
wouldn't make the car too small for himself!
I think it's largely down to personal preference, I'm only 5' 10" but I find the standard chassis a touch too short. That's
with a small Cub seat hard against the rear bulkhead and top hung pedals. I guess that floor mounted pedals might give more room You can do a lot
with seat position/rake and height but it's a fairly tight space. I have no idea how a 6'5" person could even get in!
I drive most tintops with the seat as far back as it will go, and I know that's unusual because when anyone else drives they piull the seat

I'm 6'3" and i've loads of room in the standard chassis - the trick is to make your own seat from foam and not buy one. That way you save inches (and each inch you save is 2" of height as you're saving leg space)
Rather than make the car longer why not have the pedal box in the engine bay a bit. Check things like the Fisher Fury.
I would make the cockpit a bit longer personally. It will make it easier to get in and out too
