Well its gone in. Pics will have to wait till tomorrow. I took my camera in and forgot .
We had a major problem which has puzzled me.
The engine and gearbox mounts were made with the 2.9 s6 and manual box. I donated the engine to my college and brought a 3.6 (same block, apparently).
Went to put the engine and box in place but the gearbox was about and inch too far backwar which meant it was resting on the chassis and there was no
room for the mount.
Theis meant i have spent the last 3 hours cutting out and moving the engine mounts 1 inch forward
Jobs for tomorrow, tidy garage, finish welding the mounts in place, TAKE PICS!!!

cant wait to see this beast
get your skates on speedy I'm catching you up! My chassis is 90% done now.
I can't wait to see your pics either BTW
is it possible that it is the same block but the engine mounts are different?
Awesome
2.9 is half a v12, the 3.2, 3.6 & 4.0 are the AJ6 block so different if I remember correctly.
Earlier Xk blocks were however all the same, 2.8, 3.4, 3.8 & 4.2.
Did you carry the manual gearbox over ?
Thinking about a 4.0l Jag engined car next myself, I have sourced a Getrag box with all bits so now looking for an xj40 donor.
Looking forward to the pictures, how will you see over the big lump up front?
Not sure what all the fuss is about, the engine isn't THAT big.
Good work mate

Drivers View:
Front View:
It's leaning a bit. Is that alright?
Looks good though
John
Thats the angle its supposed to be. Your the 5th person i have had to explain that to today lol.
It looks much more 'normal' when the inlet is on
Looking good Dude!
must say your doing really well for such a small garage. Makes mine look huge!
Thanks. It was smaller when i started as i had a load of crap at the side (pics in archive) but iv moved all that to the back for now. Gives me an
extra couple of feet but i dont know what im going to do when i get the front on. as i only have a handfull of inches between the front of the chassis
and the door

Looks tidy. Job Well Done getting it in.
Must confess - after your OP, my mind's eye saw a Seven version of this...
^^^ So did i!
That's going to be quite qa big bonnet bulge. Just be careful- my brother recently failed SVA because the short-arse tester said he couldn't see the road properly because of a big bonnet bulge for a R1 airbox....

That's one big mother.
You can always do the rest in the driveway - maybe your neighbours can 'help' - after all, their driveway has plenty of spare room on it - I'm sure they won't bother parking their creppy pug on the road for a month or so !!!
Don't forget to run it for a while without the silencer on - 7am on a Sunday morning always goes down well.
on the other hand - fancy a jag V12 ?
one on fleabay at the moment!

ash=item160334802630
it says it will fit a kit car!
