Engine mount strong enough?
maartenromijn - 18/8/09 at 10:08 PM

As per title. Made of 4mm steel plates (yes I know this will do) and hollow section 35 x 35 x 2 mm.

For the funny guys: no, it has not been finally welded yet!

should be well up to the job when its welded up.

very shiney though, is it just mild steel?

Looks pretty similar to the MK ones, so I'd say they'll be up to the job.

I grinded the hollow section with sandpaper flap disc before it was tag welded. This will save me a lot of time preparing for a layer of paint.

looks fine. I make mine like that but use round tube about 40mm in diameter and first weld a captive nut to the base, then weld the tube round that. Doing this save having a cut out like you have and the rubber mount is just spun on and tightened by hand before bolting the whole thing to the chassis and engine.
