Just took delivery of my aluminium
for the flooring and seat backs. I've got 5mm 5bar tread for the floor panels and I intend to seal and rivet
them to the chassis rails.
Is silkaflex the best option, or would wunderseal (ala cbs) be suitable? If silkaflex (spelling?) is the ideal wheres the best place to get it?

hi tom, i believe people use wunderseal/tiger seal/wurth and sikaflex interchangably.
Im only knowledgable here because i just bought some today 
two tubes off ebay cost £11.60 which seemed reasonable. you can possibly get it cheaper from a good motorfactors or building trade specialist.
I used "Wurth" adhesive and large head 4.2 rivets 3" apart.

That'll weigh more than the 1.6mm steel floor!
Mines 2mm plain ali.
Rivet on with sealed end rivets every 50mm max (most decent fasteners places can supply them) and seal with PU adhesive. It'll never come off
again, lol.

Its not gonna make a huge difference to weight and will give a nice solid floor!

At work we use 5mm alloy tread plate and i takes 2 people to lift it
2mm only takes 1 hand

bear in mind his dad has bought him the panels for his birthday so its all free and that few of us would begrudge a passenger in excess of 20kgs I don't think its a big deal.

Exactly, and more to the point its here now! I'm not gonna spend more money for the sake of 20kg, I am using a pinto after all so weight loss is not a huge issue to me!
Use 5mm diameter blind rivets for the floor and PU adhesive (Tiger Seal, Wurth etc etc). Blind rivets will stop any water getting into your chassis
tubes.

you'll need to be careful that the tread will hold the ali off the chassis rails.
Not sure if filling the gap with silkaflex type stuff will be a good idea of not - worried about how it will grip over the distance.
If you decide to grind the tread off for where the floor meets the chassis rails make sure you use a NEW grinding disk designed for the job. Using old
disks or steel disks can have explosive side effects.
You'd have to park in a pond to get water in your chassis tubes. Blind rivet is just another name for pop rivets meaning they can be applied to a
panel with the other side obscured (blind). The mandrel head stays in the rivet body when the stem breaks.
