I am starting a new build, i want to put in it a 2 Litre pinto engine, with a 7.5" limited slip diff. Now I have 3 plans for chassis, 1 is standard, 1 is widered, and the other is longer and widered. Which plan should i use? Plus does anyone advise getting the Haynes manual 'Build your own sports car'?

I would consider Chris gibbes plans.. (the Haynes roadster) as this is designed around your running gear and diff..

Haynes is a good way to go, tons of support here and over on the Haynes forum.

If you're building from scratch it would definitely be worth considering a zetec as they arent alot of money, are a much lighter and shorter engine and are a bit more powerful.

Please dont take this as pinto bashing, I have just finished re-building my car with one in; and it would have been much cheaper to get the power I've got from a Zetec.

on this website there is lots good info, but 3 chassis designs, the question is which 1 do i go for? i am looking at the slightly wider option. But i will get that book thanks.

Well it depends how big you are and what engines you might fit later.

The Pinto is tall which is it's main problem.

The bigger the car, the more it weighs and the slower you go. I would stick with a standard Locost sized car.
I built mine much bigger than standard and regret it now!
