Need some fabrication welding work
Johneturbo - 17/8/10 at 01:45 PM

as above, i'm looking to swap engines from R1 to zzr i know the mounts will/are in the wrong place.
but i think from photos i've seen that my cradle can me modified to take both the upper mounts front and rear.

so anyone local-ish that can help with the mountings/fabrication of mounts/welding
obviously for money and not beer tokens!

i dont have a welder and can't really weld up to a standard that would be safe for engine mounts!
i've not got the engine yet.

cheers
john

Do MNR make a cradle for the ZZR?

Might be simpler and no more expensive (than paying to modify the R1 cradle) to sell the R1 cradle you have to someone fitting an R1 and just by a new cradle.

i think they do yes.

but the upper mounts on the zzr exhaust side are high up, and from what i've seen of other mnr's with zzr they are taken off the chassis rail that side, so would need to make mounts, i think doing it of the cradle would be better/easier
so in effect modify mine

Roger @ Clarke Welding, 12A Salisbury Rd. in West Reading do a great job and don't cost a fortune. You'll need to take the bits to him and/or show him what you want done. Tel: 0118 9507735
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe

John, loadsa bits. All the local car, bike & trike builders use him. He was even welding MGF handbrake levers for the factory at one time!
Totally confident in his work - he's an*ly retentive about quality (and if you are reading this Rog that's the best compliment I can think of!).
