Welcome to the forum.
Your question can't really be answered as yes or no.
The original locosts used the escort Mk2 solid rear axle. Most later kit cars use the Sierra which is independant (and is also featured in the Haynes
Roadster)
They each have their own advantages and disadvantages. Because the wheels are further apart, cars which use the Sierra independant are wider and have
a wider cockpit (that may or may not be important to you) Sierra donors are also easier and cheaper to come by
welcome to the mad house
The old type [locost chassis had live axles
what you want to be looking at are MK Indy / type chassis have a serch on here
Jacko
Search for haynes roadster chassis on ebay.. Sierra back end, quite a few on there
whats the difference with Haynes and Locost???
Can Haynes Race in the Locost series...are parts interchangeable ??
Haynes is Sierra based, Locost is Escort based. I don't think Haynes roadster would be allowed in a Locost series. But I may be wrong.
Haynes is wider.
Gavinc has modified a locost chassis to take a Sieera dedion not a hard job and yes the the sierra axle is wider.
If you want to race in the Locist series or RGB best you rear the rules several times to find out what is allowed
