drilling holes

Hi guys , just a quick question on how to drill holes in those awkward places around the chassis? I have looked into the price of a right angled drill and these are very expensive for the sake of a handfull of holes! Any suggestions appreciated.

why not drill them before you weld it in place?! if its too late for that and a normal drill wont reach it, and the hole is essential, i guess you will have to get a right angle bit!

You get right angle adapters from EBay or machinemart for a tenner. Someones used a dremal for the smaller hole or a flexi chuck (difficult)
Tool linky here

Quality is ok 4 what we use it for and I recon with carefull use I will get a few builds out of it

Yeah - I've got one of those, from one of the shows, £9.50 Grinds a bit from the gears (must strip it & lube it some time) but absolutely ace for awkward places. Only 10mm chuck though.

If you are talking about small holes to hold the likes of 'p'clips etc then I would consider drilling right through the chassis member and closing the redundant hole with a blob of weld and grinding flat.

If its just for P clips, a good sharp punch and a medium ballpein

If you do the tunnel before you put the battery shelf on there aren't many places you will struggle to reach. I found that I could drill at a slight angle with my rechargeable drill for any slightly awkward holes. The rivet heads pull flat when the stems break.
