I know why it's expensive, in the article it says that he is a practicing silver smith, thats it, its made of silver, or maybe he got his metal
prices mixed up.

Supply and demand 101, you can't use a 7 chassis for trialling in class 8 as they aren't nearly strong enough and most are far too big.
There's almost no manufacturers in the market so the few chassis that come up have lots of people willing to buy them.
Same reason Radical, Mallock and Caterham (among others) can command big money for spaceframes with roughly the same material and labour costs as a
Robin Hood.
I suspect it may be a newly constructed chassis as I know the advertiser well and believe he has an original jig. The Locost chassis is definately not strong eough for trialling but the basic dimensions would be a starting point for construction of a chassis. They dont have to be identical to the Troll chassis anyway. What would be a nice light weight, tourqey in-line engine gearbox combination in 1600 to 2000cc capacity?
K series, 1600 zetec thingy (or indeed 1700) or duratec. Needs to be all alloy.
Bellhousings available for all those to ford boxes, 4 speed is probably lighter??
