Changing Bodywork

I'm sure this has been asked before but I can't find any posts that answer it so here goes.
I have a book built chassis that I completed and SVA 's in 2004. I'm looking at building a glassfibre Lotus XI style body for it. My question is do I need to:
1. inform the VOSA boys and possibly have to have it re-rested
2. inform DVLA simply to have the details changed on the reg document
3. keep stum and simply get on with it, after all is the locost body style registered anywhere and do VOSA take photos of the car at SVA as a reference to the body style. If they don't then who's to say what body the car had on it originally?

Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated

The chassis number is the unique identifier and that will stay the same.

If you change the colour then you should get the V5 changed.

As long as you do not change any other details, such as 2 seats to 4, there is no need to change anything.

...for DVLA. You will need to tell your insurance company, I suspect.

I take your point about the chassis number, but what's to stop anyone starting from scratch and building another totally new but different chassis and then sticking that plate on it? Not that I'm planning on doing this , but this does seem to be a big loophole in the SVA/Self build car situation and I feel sure that VOSA must have a contingency for this.
