I'm new to the scene, but have been looking into building my first locost car.
I've had very little experience of welding, and don't feel confident enough to have a go at making the chassis myself. I'm looking to
buy a pre built chassis, but am unsure of the best place to get one from. Can anyone recommended somewere?
Cheers
Ian
GTS are quite highly thought of and Darren's always available to answer any questions. Although he's now on his jollies till 16th August. Check out there site at http://www.gtscougar.freeserve.co.uk/
I went through a similar process and ended up with an MK Indy
Very pleased I did
There are also a few others to consider.
Stuart taylorhttp://www.stuart-taylor.co.uk/
MNR Sportscarshttp://www.mnrltd.co.uk/
Mac1 motorsporthttp://www.mac1motorsports.co.uk/
Luegohttp://www.luegosportscars.com/
and probably a few more that i forgot!
check them all out before buying, as they all have slight differences which you may or may not prefer.
I chose the stuart taylor for its proven record on the race track, and the fact it uses a narrowed rear end, rather than standard sierra width i.r.s.
personal preference only of course.
Good luck
Al.

Go on a welding course- it's a worthwhile skill to have. Building the chassis is the fun bit!

I did a free 10 week welding course at one of the local colleges. Definitely worth looking into. I'm with James on the build your own bit. It is fun and very fulfilling to watch it develop.
