Hi,
i'm new to the LO-CO world. I'm consodering of building a Lotus 7 like locost.
I was searchin ebay for books and find 3 diferent ones.
1. Build your sport's car and rac it - by Ron Champion
2. How to build your Avon Tiger - by Jim Dudley
3. Plans for building a Formula27
I would like to know which one is the best to book for a begginer in building a car and what is the best handlig chassis of the 3.
The first one is what most people use when starting to build there own, though there are innacuracies.
the second will have you slitting your wrists before you get halfway through the build (can't even use it as toilet paper, too shiney)
the third has been around for a long time, but you don't see many of them on the road,
if you are gonna build from scratch then get a set of mc sorley's plans and use everyone on here to help you avoid the pitfalls
good luck
Tim
be warned, as soon as you invest in the book, you are hooked!!!
and forget the £250 budget as well
all the best
tom
I bought both books before I started, 15 mins with the tiger book and I was convinced that the champion chassis was the way to go. McSorley plans are a must but dont have any suspension details, the book is seriously flawed in this area
So my conclusions is to go for Champions book + McSorley plans. I think this soud be a good start.
@Tom
I'm aware that just the coilovers could cost more than 250GBP. But brcause i don't have too much money it has to be LO-CO as possible and
stuff in Croatia is probably cheaper then in UK and can get a donor for free.
