Ok so it's been asked before. I've got a drum axle Sierra donor and want a disk brake setup. The first mistake I made was assuming that I
could just use the bearing carrier off a disk variant Sierra, that is until I went to fit the half shaft and realised that the bearing sizes are
completely different!
So I know I can get a bracket that adapts the drum bearing carrier to mount the brake caliper. The trouble is I'm struggling to find any
information on a reliable supplier. GTS tuning do some adapter plates but reading previous posts on here I am reluctant to order from them. Can anyone
recommend another supplier? I can find quite a few suppliers for escort brake conversions but not many for Sierra. I read somewhere that MNR do them
but can't find any info on their website.
Anyway if anyone's got any leads for a decent supplier I'd appreciate it. I've already sourced everything else so just need the
brackets only.
P.S they are the 253mm solid disks.
Cheers
Im looking at doing the reverse! I want Bolt on shafts with drum brakes... i'm still not sure how im going to do it due to spacing issues with
the backplates.
The route I have seen done for your needs is to use hybrid shafts, using diesel shafts you can use the pushin inner CVs with Lobro outers, retaining
all the disk bearing setup.
Do a search and im sure there will be more specifics.
Thanks but I don't want to use hybrid shafts. I've read on here that mixing lobro and push in shafts is a bad idea because of wear related
issues?
I just want a simple bracket making. If I knew the dimensions I'd get someone to machine / fabricate me one. If it comes to it i'll get the
measuring stick out and design my own. I just don't want to go to all that trouble when I'm sure someone has already done this before.
If you follow this link, its the third item down. Although the ones that I got from them had the back cut away, so could be fitted without taking the
hubs off. HTH Ray
