Flat stock brackets

Does anyone know off-hand whether you can buy 40mm x 3mm flat stock? Gotta be easier to make brackets from that than plate.

Just get the fabricators to cut it with his gillotine

If you want, i can make your brackets for you, for a price, you will need to give me a sketch of what you want .

Asked our local guys and they quoted more for 40x116x3 plates than GTS charge for a full set of complete brackets.

Viper, what's your price?

I've got a length in the shed. Are you using the Triumph bushes?

Chris_R - 12/9/04 at 09:44 PM

Had intended to but from GTS for the majority of the suspension components. Was gonna get bushes off them too.

I use 50x50x3mm box with one side cut off. Nice and easy.. distance between inner faces works out at 44mm

Same like Twin turbo.Did them all with a hacksaw and some ellbow grease!

I was looking for book spec brackets, but reclaimed a steel sign today that just happens to be made form 50x50x3 RHS.

Cita - 16/9/04 at 03:31 PM

"just happens to be made from 50x50x3"?
You dont expect us to believe that are'nt you?

Chris_R - 16/9/04 at 05:22 PM

It's true. It's a bit bent though. Came from a car park that is frequented by a number of learner drivers. Looks like someones reversed into it. Gonna slavage what I can, but dunno how many brackets I'll get from it.

Cita - 16/9/04 at 06:12 PM

I made 16 brackets out of a 1 meter length of 50x50x3 and still have some length left over.
So that steel sign, even with a bent, should be plenty.

I actually was wondering what you meant by reclaiming Chris?Did you just steal it as i would do

Chris_R - 16/9/04 at 08:28 PM

Nah, I spent a couple of hours yesterday with a breaker getting it out of the ground. I work for a sign company so have had to fabricate a replacement to the same spec. As jobs go it's quite handy. I've also just cut my floor and rear bulkhead from another reclaimed sign panel. If I was gonna pinch it I'd have prolly used a stihl saw. Would be much quicker.

,you are too honest Chris!
