im doin a de-dion rear aswell.
what you want is about .5-1 degree of camber and about 1/16th of toe in.
by the way how are you producing the axle.
i was shown a very neet solution by jim dudly on the b6 at donnington where the axle is made up of 2x1 and went over the diff allowing very low
mounting of the tank behind.
personaly i may produce twin tanks that go infront of the axle to aid ballance.
have you thought of what linkage you will use, mine will be a satchell link.
A 1 by 2 inch tube sounds a bit flimsy for a Deon axle. I have measured a Caterham Deon axle with a tape measure and found it to be 2.5 inches diameter round tube. I don't know what the wall thickness was though.
#Hello, and thanks for the answer

## at the moment i have been using a volvo 360 de-dion tube with my opel omega wheel hubs for brain storming (nice shape for the diff), but i am also
thinking about making it out of a slightly bended tube of D 65-70mm t= 2mm. I think this will be simmilar to the caterham version.

# Do you have any pictures of it ,or simple drawing.

# I am planning to use an 4 link forward and an "inverted" watt-link with the two links at the de-dion tube.
i found some ok pics on a tiger build site
http://www.annibal.co.uk/Build%20diary%20week1.htm
they are ok pics but as you will see it all looks a bit too complex to build accuratly.
are you using the vauxhall diff/box etc.
i will be using a 20xe with carlton box for mine and a sierra lsd.
ill be doing some de dion designs on pro/e or auto cad soon so ill share them when they are done.
ps if i use a simple tube design it will be made of a prop shaft probobly
Hello,
I think i will have a hard time find a propshaft with the lenght i need.
I use a converted Opel omega rear with the original wheel hub and track with. The extra width will be used for my wider chassi and the fact that i
use Saab 9-5 wheels with a big offset.
Over the last two weeks i have been re-considering wich tube to use.
I am now calculating on a rektangular 60X70X3mm for the de-dion tube(to strong ??).
This will make it easier to weld the tube with the right measurments.

Nice pictures but i agree with you that i will be hard to copy that to a locost. I plan to buld my de-dion "on" a giant I-beam for reference. The plan
is to weld two old brake disc to the beam and then attach the rest with the correct angel ( i hope)

I am not familliar to the carlton and 20Xe car. Do you know if it is simmilar to any other car.

Thanks !
I have Acces to Catia at work and are also planning to make some parts of the car (probably parts wich needs to be made with a "jigg")
Regards Tobias
the 20xe is the engine from an astra(kadet), cavalier(vectra in europe), and calibra. and a carlton was always known as an omega in europe and is over here now.
I know that the photo section is not up and running yet, but when it is have a look at the photo of the chassis I have just bought. It is a book
chassis fitted with a de-dion rear and I think it looks simple and neat, I am led to believe that it is an MK construction but have yet to have this
confirmed. If more detailed pics would help just ask.
Cheers Col.
