Hi, I have recently bought an unfinished project, the chassis has been stripped to the bare bones and re-powder coated. There is a chassis number
stamped onto the chassis in two places so abit of a long shot but just wondered if anyone reconised the 'style' of the chassis number, the
chassis looks to be nice quality which leads me to think it may have been factory built... either way worth a try
Chassis number SC 94 SE XXXX (The X's are a 4 number combination)
Thanks
Shaw
Is it a westfield chassis ie 1994 SE only a guess.Do you have a photograph ??
Thanks I am hoping this is the case as it will aid me sourcing wish bones and trailing arms etc! I'll try to get some pics sorted, the features
that look different to my old aries loco are;
1/ the front of the chassis has a clamp welded on either side ( I think maybe for headlamp brackets)
2/ the box section frame changes to tube in the cab area (where your arm will sit)
3/ the back end only has structure for the rear sus as though it is meant to be fitted with a rear fibreglass tub rather than formed ally.
westfields have a clamp as you said for the headlights, and rear has a boot box.So going off your description I would say westfield se with live rear
axle!!! not sure if it will be a wide or narrow body.
hope this helps.you may find the front and rear suspension from the Ron Champion book will fit your chassis as it is a copy!!!!!
As said sounds like a westfield chassis

Thanks for the advice, just had a quick measure and the measurement for the widest part of the top wish bone is 230mm and 350mm for the lower one. I'll try to find some dims for the Ron champion wish bones before I purchase the book
maybe a forum member could photocopy the page for you
sorry I don't have a copy...
Haha, I had both books when I built my last car but I can't find them anywhere! Typical!
No ability to photocopy here easily.... but will this do:

Don't know about it's origin but you'll need a 17 digit chassis number for IVA/registration.
Probably worth contacting Westfield and ask them to confirm if thats the concesus of where it's from. They should have record of the number if it
is theirs and might be able to assign extra digits. Alternativly, contact DVLA and ask them for a new number (I wouldn't mention the existing one
or it'll get complicated)... or make up your own and go trough the minefield of clearing that with DVLA.
Hi
Yes it is a Westfield chassis ( or very close copy as there was a company doing moody chassis).
It is the later wider / longer wheelbase live axle, IE the one that Ron copied.
Cheers Matt
That's great, thanks for the info, I'll ring westfield on Monday and see if they can help.
Thanks again for the help
