Alternative Radiator
bill132hotrod - 29/5/13 at 12:08 PM

Hi guys

I thought today i would run up my kit and do a few checks only to find that my trusty old escort rad has given up.
So can anyone out there tell me what alternative radiator I can use, I hear that some people are using the polo rads but i need a rad that will fit without to many alterations model and part numbers would be a great help. also any picturs so that i know what i am looking at.
Thanks in advance..

Depends on the route of your pipes, polo rads have both in, out and breather on the left/passenger side., IIRC escorts have one on either. So moving to a polo would mean some hose changes, but the polos are usually cheaper to source than early escort ones.

I installed a Hyundai Excel rad, it may work as I believe the chassis of the Excel was a copy of the Escort, as the Stellar was a copy of the Cortina. These cars were from the late 80's to early 90's.

not the clearest shot of the rad, but its all i have as im at work sorry.....

The inlet at the top is in a central position and the bottom one on the drivers side. My front frame is wider than a standard book locost by the way.
