have you checked out talon motorsports flat pack kit ? i found it cheaper to buy from him considering the saving in cutting etc.
contact him rather than just buy from his site.
have a look on roadster builders at my build

Welcome and good luck with the build as said above talons stuff is good and worth it. What donor are you using?
Dont forget we require plenty of picture updates as you progress. Also if you get stuck or have any problems dont stew on them there is a lot of knolage and help on here all you have to do is ask.
Anyway welcome and the best of british to you
Gary

Hi Ray, I'm scratch building a tiger Avon, but will help you as much as I can, I've previously built a book locost.

Thanks for the posts lads, will check out those flat pack kits today
This is my second build having built Rons version in the late 90s and sold it on before it was complete and always regretted it, so here I am with a empty garage and a handful of parts, a copy of rons book and the latest roadster book.
So my first decision is which one? I do like the simplicity of rons design with the live axel but am aware of some issues regarding the caster angle and lower wishbones bending. I don't have a donor car so my options are open but i do have a pair of Cortina stub axels complete with all new ball joints
Any feed back would be welcome

Thanks

Ray

As it happens I purchased some wishbones for what I thought was a haynes, however they are not dimensionally correct.
I am not sure what the dimensions for locost are but if you know dimensions I can check them. I have all front (top and bottom)

Hi Neil
I have the dimensions for the locost wishbones, would it be possible for you to send me a pic of them, I have some bush tubes and bottom plates for the roadster which I no longer need as am building the locost, maybe we can come to some arrangement

Cheers

How come you are doing the locost and not the haynes? I know they are pretty similar loads od bits available for the haynes laser cut etc

mark chandler - 16/6/15 at 11:50 PM

Mines based on the original book, move the shock location out so it points at the ball joint and you will not bend the bones.

If I was doing it again I would make it smaller, not larger like the Haynes.

locost7-online.com - 17/6/15 at 06:41 AM

I'm doing the tiger avon, which I think is smaller than the haynes

Thanks for the posts, the reason I decided to build the original locost was availability of parts, I managed to pick up some cortina stub axels and a escort rear axle for a good price so the decision was made
made
This is my second build of the locost and am pleased with the progress, should have the chassis complete and of the bench by the weekend
