Hi folks going to collect steel on friday as garage is now cleared and benches and board all in situ to begin, does any one recall how many lengths of box it takes to complete a chassis will probably doing mcscorsley version. Any advice greatly received, one other thing have a chance of pinto engin box axle column brakes etc cheap but no proof of doner!! will this really complicate sva regards martin
You'll want around 70m of 25mm steel. Just go through the plans and add them up! Remember you'll need some round aswell as some 3mm
plate.

I used the mcsorley cutting list which details the number of 3m lengths. I ordered half that number of 6m lengths which gave me some spare and sawed
them in half to fit them in the garage. I've had surprisingly little waste.

What kind of price are we looking at for a whole chassis?
Cheers

I did it in excatly the same way as dern did, from the cutting list you find with the plans on mcsorley's website. Purchased my steel in 6m length as it was cheaper buyingit in 3m lengths . It turned out I actually had enough steel to screw-up on two of the rails, make new ones & a little left over.

The basic box steel (square and round) for the chassis cost me about 120 quid. This did not include metal for wishbones or any steel or aluminium
sheet.

We got about 6 offcuts (about 2m) from a factory. They were vertually free (a tenner?) from a manufacturer just down the road. Admitedly we
weren't building a whole chassis, just finishing one off.
