Before building the chassis, what major components should I buy FIRST?
Example: I plan to buy the ENGINE and TRANSMISSION first, so any potential fitting problems regarding these two major components are
"solved".
What else?
P.S. I don't have a donor car per se, but rather, getting items individually.
Thanks!
you can build your chassis without any major bits, if i was doing it that way round i would leave out....
the transmission tunnel
any bars that are in the engine bay,
both the above can be completed when you have your engine/gearbox.

And a basic CAD program if you are thinking of doing something a bit different.

i have also just started to build my first locost opted for mcscorleys plan, do read his build details link available from this sight, very informative but i believe having read a loy of the posts on this sight, the trick is plan plan plan then when you have got it just right in your mind change the bloody lot. lol i have chosen to leave engine transmision till most of the cutting and tacking is all done because things chande so quikly the day after you buy a pinto and box or whatever someone will offer you an alternative for less or indeed more but wiil make you think!!!!!!!!!! again and again. the cutting is easy for chassis the welding is easy BUT getting it saquare and flat and all that is enough to worry about initially. take your time enjoy each small part at atime and good luck regards martin
